Easter Morning

The Easter Bunny gave us Elmo baskets filled with lots of fun treats!

Auntie Easter Bunny brought a sand and water table!

The Easter Bunny even brought golf clubs...

And Amelia's first shot was hole in one, no joke!

Even with all of her new things, Emma stood in the corner hoarding candy. True Emmy style :)

And it wouldn't be a holiday in our house without the dog egg hunt!

Coloring Easter Eggs

Decorating Easter eggs is one of my favorite holiday activities. Although this year went smoother than last, I had envisioned things a little differently. The instructions stated to put the color tab in vinegar for vibrant colors... well I'm not sure about being vibrant, but there was definitely a gross film on all of the eggs...but the girls had a great time so thats all that matters!

Sketching on the eggs before putting them in the color.

Mom helping Amelia put her in the pink dye.

Dad "helping" Emma put her egg...

and fingers into the blue dye.

Doing a taste test before dying the eggs.

I should probably taste test the crayon too.

And while we are at it, I should taste the egg holder too.

Our misfit easter eggs... lot of dents!

Things my mom did, that I swore I NEVER would do...

It was a day I knew I couldn't avoid, and a day I was dreading. It was worse than turning 30! Kids from our generation cringe at the thought of minivans because its our generation that was crammed in the back with windows that opened an inch, poor air conditioning, bench seating, wood paneling on the outside... and in my mom's minivan the smell of barf from my brothers friend Scooter. (It was cleaned several times but the smell of hurl always lingered in the air... especially on warm days.) My mom's even had paint chipping off the hood of the car that resembled the batman symbol, no joke. Luckily things have gotten (am I really going to say this) sweeter... and so practical. Now we have so much space, we don't have to launch over the front seats to access the back seat.

And instead of going from a Mini Cooper to a Minivan, we say it's a Mini Cooper to a Tour Bus.

Swimming Pool

Here's a few highlights of Amelia and Emma's swimming lessons. We have one class left, I know the girls will miss going each week!

2nd offense

Grocery shopping by yourself with two little kids is stressful. Trying to remember to buy everything while keeping both kids in the carriage and content is a huge challenge. But one that I will do in order to have food. (Thank god for those little cars that are built into the carriage!)

Last week, after I had already bought everything and packed the groceries into the car, I breathed a sigh of relief... I reached into the little car to put the girls into my car and I couldn't believe my eyes. The whole bottom of the car was lined with magazines... They must have been grabbing them from the check out line when the printer ran out of paper. They were all "Bon Appetite" magazines. I looked down at them, thinking I can't bring them back. I will just leave them in the cart. But then I saw they were 5 dollars each and I slowly walked back into the store. I walked to the service desk with a stack of slightly wrinkled magazines and told the woman behind the desk, "Um... my kids took these." And dropped the stack on the desk, smiled and walked away.

Let's go to Smyth's (insert arm pump)

Smyth's is the staple ice cream stand where we live. It's been around since 1977, Derek and I both have great memories of going to Smyth's and eating ice cream on warm summer nights. With the summer-like weather we had, we decided to bring the girls for their first ever Smyth's experience. They both at a cup of vanilla with rainbow sprinkles!

Waiting in line.

First bite.

Pro Ice Cream Eaters.

What? I get most of it in my mouth.

Emma preferred to use the upside down spoon.

And when they were finished the big kids got their ice cream... that was WAY more fun!
