Reunited and it feels so good :)
After delivery, a nurse brought Nora over to me so I could give her a smooch before they took her to the NICU. I wasn't able to see her again for about 32 hours, it was so amazing to hold her for the first time :)

Saturday, February 6th
3:00 a.m.
I woke up to a really bad pain on my left side. Was it a kick, a fibroid pain, a contraction... who the heck knows at this point!! This little girl has kept me on my toes for the last 4 weeks.
3:15 a.m.
Amelia and Emma appear in the doorway of our room because they can't sleep either. They climb in bed between Derek and I and try to fall back to sleep.
4:00 a.m.
Still awake. The pain on my left side is occurring more frequently and the pain is growing stronger. I move to the couch followed by two little girls who want to keep me company.
5:00 a.m.
These are definitely contractions and I should start timing them. They are coming every 3-5 minutes. But it's 5 am and I don't want to call the on call doctor yet cause I know they wake up at 6 and I can wait the hour.
5:30 a.m.
I wake Derek up to tell him what has been going on since 3 a.m. and said I would call the doctor at 6am. I said we would most likely be headed to the hospital at that point. He didn't seem concerned and fell quickly back to sleep.
5:30 a.m.
Text to Karen to see if she is awake. No response.
5:45-6:00 a.m.
Call Karen. Call Ryan. Call Karen. Call my parents. Call Karen. Call Christine and Phil. Call Karen. Everyone is asleep.
6:00 a.m.
Spoke with Dr. Peterson, she says to head into the hospital.
6:05 a.m.
Wake Derek up to let him know we need to head to the hospital. He begins to go back to sleep. "Derek you need to get it together, we have to go to the hospital NOW." He shoots out of bed then begins texting Karen. "I think when Karen sees she's missed thirteen calls from me that she will probably call back. I think we should just head over there and ring the doorbell, that will wake them up. My bag is packed I am ready to go." Derek begins to get his things together. A short while afterwards I hear something coming from the bathroom, he is cutting his finger nails. In times of emergency, a well trimmed finger nail is always a necessity.
6:30 a.m.
Karen wakes up, calls us, we drop girls off and head to the hospital.
We arrive at the hospital. The baby looks great on the monitor however I am having contractions every 2-3 minutes. They give me an IV, hook up fluids and continue to monitor me. There was talk of another hospitalized bed rest, putting me on magnesium to stop the contractions, and possibly delivering me. We were just waiting on the doctor to decide.
The hard part about working on a maternity floor now is knowing how to read the fetal monitor strips. I began to have a variable decel where the baby's heart rate began to drop rapidly. I shifted on my left side as I would tell any one of my patients to do and the heart rate stayed low. My nurse came in and asked me to change positions again, still no improvement. At that point, I remember the nurse dropping the head of my bed, putting gel all over my abdomen quickly searching for a heart rate, and holding an oxygen mask up to my face. Then thank god she found Nora's heart rate. Someone asked me how I was feeling as tears were creeping out of the corners of my eye, "anxious" was all I could come up with. Nora's message was heard loud and clear, she wasn't going to wait anymore. She was ready to come out and meet us. Things moved very quickly from that point, lots of paperwork was signed and the next thing I knew I was on that cold operating room table. Nora was born at 10:52 a.m. making her presence known by her loud cry. She was 4lbs 3.75 oz and 17 1/4" long. The nurse brought her over to me and I gave her a kiss on her tiny cheek before she was taken to the NICU for respiratory support. It was love at first sight, she was absolutely perfect.
