Two baby girls for two baby girls

I knew it would happen one day, but I didn't think it would happen so soon. One afternoon we were out shopping. Auntie had Emma in her carriage and I had Amelia in mine. As we were walking around, I glanced down to see Amelia so completely excited about something but I wasn't sure why... I looked around to see what she was looking at. And then I saw it. We were walking by the toy aisle and she spotted her first baby doll. I walked closer and her excitement rose. I've never seen a happier baby. Needless to say, we now have two new babies in our family.

Breaking News from the Tooth Fairy

It's kinda hard to see it, but it's there. Emma got her first tooth yesterday! Her bottom right tooth broke through last night. She was a little upset about the whole thing but now she is very excited.

She is pretty much a big girl now... What's next? Boyfriends? Wearing makeup? Getting her license?!?

1st 5k

This year on our Cape trip we decided to wake up early Saturday and run in the girls first 5k race. Amelia loved all the attention she got during the race while Emma slept the entire time. Thanks Auntie for pushing the stroller!

The Cape

Every year we go on a golfing trip to Cape Cod, this year the girls joined the party. Not only was our car jam packed with baby stuff, we even took over the trunk of Aunties car too. And it was only for 3 days. Bottles of booze were replaced with bottles of formula and junk food snacks were replaced with baby food and rice cereal. It was different with kids around but still so much fun. Can't wait for next year's trip!

Dear Amelia and Emma,

(Better late than never... right?)

Can you believe we made it 9 months? I can remember when I first learned I was pregnant, waiting 9 months to meet you seemed like forever. But apparently you girls had different plans and we were able to meet you earlier than expected. It's amazing how slow time went in the beginning and how fast time flies now that your here. Your dad and I used to sit and talk about what you would look like and what color hair and eyes you would have. These days we talk about what your first word will be. What will you sound like. When will you start crawling. How tall will you be. What you will be when you grow up. Our greatest hope for both of you is that you find passion, happiness and love in all that you do.

Amelia Jane,
Our little pip squeak. Weighing in at 14lbs 15oz, you are in the first percentile for your age. In the last nine months we have watched you grow up to be such a little person. Your smile brings us so much happiness and your shoulder shrug and eye brow raise makes it even better. You scream when you are happy and scream louder when you are not. Your range of emotions have truly been defined this past month.

You have really come far this month. You love to lie on the floor and kick out. You roll side to side exploring all of the toys around you. Lately your favorite toy is your bouncer chair. Since it is elevated off the floor, you can slide under it and pretend it's a tent. You spend so much time under there, content as could be. You are really such a good easy going baby. 9 months old. I can't even believe it!

Emma Jane,
Our little explorer. Weighing in at 15lbs 13oz, you are in the seventh percentile for your age. Over the past nine months your dad and I have watched you become a little girl who knows what she wants. You examine everything from the way your hand works to the way a remote control lights up. This month you have been on a mission and nothing can get in your way.

You are always working on your skills. You roll over with intention. You have even turned it into a double or triple roll. You twist your legs like a kung foo master. You can work your way around a room and back. Keeping your mom and dad on their toes, wondering what you will find next. It's all about exploring your world and pushing the limits. I can't believe how much you've changed in 9 months.

Amelia and Emma,

This past month marked some big milestones. Starting baby food! It's official, you both love to eat. Your favorite food so far is pears. Sweet potatoes and apples follow close behind. You aren't really into green vegetables, like peas and zucchini even though we try to be positive about it. We have given you sippy cups, even though you haven't figured out how to use them, you love to hold them up and pretend to drink. You are almost holding your bottles up at meal times and you both sleep most nights from 9-10pm until 6am! We look at you everyday and can't believe how big you've grown. As you are getting older, you continue to amaze us with everything you learn each day. Keep getting bigger and keep being happy. You are such a gift to this family. Content to go with the flow, rarely causing waves, just happy to hang out with the rest of us. Thank you for bringing us so much happiness. We love you more than you will ever know.

Love, Mom

Yay Amelia

This past weekend Amelia learned how to clap. I love it!

We haven't seen a Funny Face series in a while. These are all of Amelia and were all taken within minutes of one another. Some things never change!

Tuesday the girls attended their first baseball game! Their cousin Joe plays varsity baseball for the high school so we went to cheer him on. Great game Joe!

Exercise?

This year I was completely off my rocker when I agreed to do an indoor triathlon after not exercising in eight months. But I am happy to report that Courtney and I both got personal bests for each event! I guess being a slug for the last eight months paid off :)

For those of you who don't know, an indoor triathlon consists of 20 minutes of swimming, 20 minutes of cycling and a 5k run.

Here I am swimming. My fav!

Here's Court doing the backstroke.

The girls "cheered" us on poolside.

Here we are doing the indoor cycling.

And the 5k run!

The girls were awake for this part, Run Mom Run!

Go Auntie Green!!

Yeah, almost done!

Finished!
